Witnesses said they saw her digging a well with her brother, which collapsed and left them trapped. The authorities rescued them and they were rushed to a hospital, but doctors could do nothing to save the girl's life.
The 7-year-old boy was hospitalized in critical condition. The event occurred this Tuesday afternoon on Lauderdale-by-the-Sea beach, in southeastern Florida, when the brothers apparently made a hole in the sand and became trapped. According to Pompano Beach fire spokeswoman Sandra King, the sand hole was between 1.5 and 1.8 meters deep.
