The traffic light has been arguing about basic child security for more than a year. There is criticism of Family Minister Paus's law from many quarters.

Franziska Vollmer spoke to the Tagesspiegel against the family minister's plan. In September the cabinet approved a draft law. It envisages combining the previous benefits of child benefit, citizen's benefit, social assistance, child allowance and the benefits of the education and participation package. The draft law is “poorly crafted, not thought through and has legal gaps,” said deputy FDP parliamentary group leader Christoph Meyer to the Editorial Network Germany. In order to implement basic child protection before the federal election in 2025, the traffic light coalition would have to reach an agreement soon, the editorial network said in an editorial. As the employment agency has already announced that it will already be at least a year's notice for implementation after the law has been approved by the Bundesrat. Which doesn't seem given the criticism, not only from the FDP, but also from the Union.
