Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been re-elected with 52% of the vote. He has all the necessary latitude to consolidate his Islamo-nationalist power.

The opposition's dreams of a return to the rule of law have now been dashed. Instead of playing the card of appeasement, once renewed, the Turkish president will continue his balancing act in diplomacy. He will continue to sweep away a little more the heritage of the secular Republic of Atatürk, as he approaches his hundred years.
