Republicans and Democrats have more time to reach an agreement and raise the debt ceiling. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen had pointed to early June without specifying a date.

Yellen confirms the government has the money to pay more than $130 billion in scheduled payments in the first two days of June. The parties have approached positions and the pact begins to take shape, although the figures have not been specified and there is resistance between the most extremist wings of the Republican and Democratic parties. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has called this Friday in Washington for an immediate solution to the problem.
