Umbilicus rupestris, or Venus navel, is a perennial succulent plant, wild, but tameable by the gardener. Hardy and not very greedy, it flourishes among shady pebbles and rocks, on cliffs, embankments, or on old stone roofs.

From May to September, they are erect and pointed clusters, composed of long, tubular, greenish-yellow, pendulous flowers, which bloom above the foliage. The ideal situation is partial shade, as long as the soil remains cool.
