UN Secretary General opens Munich Security Conference. Around 50 heads of state and government and 100 ministers from all over the world are expected at the conference in mid-February.

Conference leader Christoph Heusgen justified the decision in an interview with the German Press Agency with the global ambition of the most important meeting of politicians and experts in the world. The conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East would play a major role at the Conference from February 16th to 18th. “We also have the right to take care of the global order as a whole. That is why the conference should be opened by UN Secretary General Guterres.”
