Ted Kaczynski sent 16 letter bombs over two decades that caused three deaths. After his arrest by the FBI in 1996, he was serving a sentence of several life sentences.
He was 81 years old and the cause of death was not immediately clear. The terrorist scientist was found dead Saturday morning in the cell in which he wasserving eight life sentences, according to a spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He had been serving time in a maximum security prison in Colorado until 2021, when he was transferred to a medicalized prison.
