Nicolas May died two years ago as a result of an undetected heart defect. His father Manfred May then set up a foundation.

This now enables preventive examinations at the secondary school in Maisach. The 1,100 children who have registered will incur costs of around 120,000 to 150,000 euros. The foundation needs ongoing donations so that preventive examinations can be carried out at other schools. The father of the late Nicolas May makes an appeal to politicians: People must be above the costs - not the other way around. The data received from the many studies would be evaluated and made available to the political decision-making bodies in the health sector. The evaluation is carried out anonymously; the Maisacher secondary school is only informed of the percentage for which there were concerns. However, each participant receives a report and in the event of problematic results, families are informed. On average, one can assume that one percent of children will be affected by an illness in some way. The Bavarian Health Minister Judith Gerlach has already expressed interest in the investigations.
