Senior Conservative MP William Wragg admitted he was the victim of a phishing scam and handed over several MP's personal phone numbers. Leicestershire Police confirmed on Thursday that they were investigating “malicious communications after a number of unsolicited messages were sent to an MP” in this region of central England.

The messages conveyed knowledge of many personal details. Each time, everything started in the same way: a certain “Abi”, or acertain “Charlie” contacted the target on Whatsapp, claiming to have met them during a political event, getting upset that the interlocutor did not respond.
