American Vice President Kamala Harris must insist on Friday that Donald Trump is the “architect’ of the rollback of the right to abortion in the U.S. abortion.

On Tuesday, the Arizona Supreme Court ruled that an 1864 law prohibits abortion at conception, except in cases where the mother is in mortal danger. Rape and incest are not considered valid exceptions. The Democrats want to capitalize on this new development to weaken Donald Trump. Polls show that the majority of Americans support abortion, which weakens the conservative party at the polls, writes Julian Zelizer. He says Trump is now exercising restraint, saying he wants to give American states a free hand to legislate on abortion.  “If Donald Trump has the chance, he will sign a national ban on abortion,” Ms. Harris must counter in Tucson, Zelizer says. “Just look at his record.” ‘We all need to understand who is to blame,’ she is expected to address.
