Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is the first Cabinet secretary to be impeached in nearly 150 years. He is accused of his "bad" handling of immigration on the border between the United States and Mexico.
President Joe Biden called it a “blatant act of unconstitutional partisanship that has targeted an honorable public servant to play petty political games” The Senate is expected to receive the articles of impeachment from the House after returning to session on February 26. The charges will soon go to the Senate for a trial, but neither Democratic senators nor even some Republicans have shown interest.
