The southern part of the country is particularly affected. However, the snow forecast for Germany is no comparison to that for its southeastern neighboring countries. For example, in the Carnic and Julian Alps, which lie between Austria and Italy or Italy and Slovenia, there are said to be fresh snow amounts of up to one meter. The snowfall is forecast to continue through the weekend, with the highest amounts expected in the Alps.
