The Italian lagoon city of Venice is taking increasingly strict action against improper behavior. Failure to comply can cost the perpetrators dearly: a fine of up to 500 euros can be due, depending on the offense.

Using the hashtag #EnjoyRespectVenezia, the city provides information on its website about what is forbidden in the tourist metropolis. This year, Venice is testing an entry fee for day tourists on 29 days – mostly in the high season. Holidaymakers should not pay five euros to stay in this way - this is for those who do not want to spend the night in the city center. The fine for pitching a tent or sleeping outdoors, i.e. iouacing, is also prohibited in Venice - the fine for the violation is 200 euros. The city is not alone in this: in Sorrento it costs 500 euros to walk through the city centre in a bikini and swimming trunks. The Balearic island of Mallorca has been cracking down more and more harshly in recent years.
