Uruguay is preparing to discuss a bill that seeks to guarantee equal political participation in the country. Under the Quota Law, in the 2019 general elections, women elected senators and deputies represented only 19.2% of the Uruguayan Parliament.

Uruguay appears in 96th place in the ranking of the Interparliamentary Union, which shows the presence of female legislators. The bill has gained momentum in this 2024 election and has the support to be approved this month in the Senate's Human Rights and Gender Equality Commission.
