US elections: Donald Trump banned from running in the Republican primary in Illinois. An Illinois judge declared the ex-president ineligible because of his actions during the assault on the Capitol and ordered his removal from the race.

The decision comes and is motivated by the fact that the United States Supreme Court must determine whether Donald Trump's actions make him ineligible or whether he benefits from criminal immunity. Of the thirty states in which ineligibility appeals were filed against Donald Trump, two were successful, but several states are nevertheless waiting for the Supreme Court to rule definitively.
