Verdi union calls for strikes in local public transport companies in Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, Heilbronn, Freiburg, Baden-Baden, Esslingen and Konstanz. 93 percent of union members in local transport companies were in favor of the possibility of indefinite strikes.

The dispute has been going on since the end of January. Around 6,500 employees are affected by the talks. The employers had presented a new offer in the last round of negotiations and, according to their own statements, had gone a long way toward meeting Verdi. However, the total extent of Verdi’s claims cannot be conveyed to taxpayers. The next round of talks is scheduled for next week. The union is calling for a fundamental reduction in weekly working hours and a shift allowance for driving services. It also wants, among other things, to ensure that employees can have delays and previously unpaid travel times fully credited as working time. The conflict has already largely paralyzed public transport in parts of the country several times.
