A couple of federal police officers were attacked by robbers in Ramos Mejía. One of the thieves, Carlos Ariel Calderón, 25, died from his injuries.
The officers were shot in the chest by one of the assailants. Both confirmed using their service weapons to defend themselves. Clarín reported in January and March of this year about the growing insecurity in the area. In Merlo, on Saturday night, a plainclothes officer killed a 19-year-old thief to prevent him from robbing him. On the same Saturday, another thief and two others injured two others - ages 14 and 16.
