Vincent Dumestre is the new artistic director of the Misteria Paschalia festival in Krakow, Poland. The conductor and lutenist remembers his first time at the festival 15 years ago.

He says he was transported by the richness of the city and its heritage. The festival is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. It is the “largest early music festival in Central and Eastern Europe, and one of the greatest in Europe, period,” he says.
