Fire in Istanbul nightclub that was being renovated left at least 29 dead. Owners of the nightclub and those responsible for the construction company were arrested.
The nightclub was closed for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Police cordoned off the area and electricity and natural gas were cut off to the neighborhood. The cause of the fire was under investigation and that the victims were believed to be involved in renovation work, the mayor said. The nightclub did not have the necessary permit to carry out construction work and renovations, he said.
