The attack on Morozovsk airfield, in Russia's southern Rostov region, bordering Ukraine, was a "special operation" The city of Rostov-on-Don, capital of this region, is home to the headquarters of Russian troops involved in the offensive in Ukraine, launched in February 2022. This city was also the scene last June of the spectacular mutiny of Wagner's mercenaries, who briefly seized the army headquarters before stopping their rebellion.
