A weather front is moving down from the north pushing temps down by as much as 10 degrees celsius and bringing high winds and gales to many parts. The abrupt near-wintry wake-up call after the scorching last few days is set to last until the end of the week, forecasterssaid Monday.

"We're moving from pseudo-summer to almost-winter again," said Antonio Sanò of the IlMeteo.it website. The weather front will push temps back down to the mid-teens in many parts of the country, forecasters said. The front is expected to last for the next few days and bring a return to more normal temperatures in the coming days and weeks. The Italian weather service has issued a weather alert for Monday and Tuesday for the whole of the north and north-east of Italy. The alert is in place until Tuesday night and will be in place for the rest of this week and into next week.
