The English Garden in Munich is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, according to a new ranking list. The Golden Beach Award is presented annually by the London start-up BeachAtlas.

The island of Bora Bora, French Polynesia, comes in first place in the ranking. Boulders Beach in South Africa follows in second place and Waikiki Beach in Hawaii comes in third. The English Garden is famous for the Eisbach, where the best inner-city river surfing spot is located. It is also home to an artificial stone step that creates a wave that reaches half a meter high and attracts some of the best surfers in the World. The jury of travel experts and influencers justified the ranking as follows: “Who would have thought that Munich would have such a cool surfing scene in the heart of the city?” It is a surprising discovery in the south of Germany, says the evaluation of the German city's most beautiful sandy beach.
