The wave of bankruptcies continues to roll through Germany. Now a heating specialist also had to file for bankruptcy.

Three locations are affected by the process. The company is the German subsidiary of the Salzburg parent company Windhager. In 2022, the Austrian company generated record sales of 160 million euros with its German branches. Last year sales plummeted. The situation became dramatic in the summer of 2023 when the discussion arose in German politics as to whether wood was still worthy of support as a sustainable energy source or not. “After the record year of 2022 for renewable heating, the 'politicized' slump last year was all the more disappointing," explained the managing director of the German Energy Wood and Pellet Association, Martin Bentele, on the association's own homepage in February 2024. The provisional insolvency administrator will hold discussions with the Austrian companies and other companies now in discussions. The 92 employees of a traditional company in Bavaria that recently filed for bankruptcy are now waiting to see what happens next.
