Local commander of armed wing of Islamic Jihad killed in Israeli strike in Jenin. Two other Palestinians accused by Israel of preparing attacks were also killed.

Jenin, home to one of the most populous and impoverished refugee camps in the Palestinian territories, is a stronghold of committed groups engaged in armed struggle against Israel. At least 430 Palestinians have been killed by fire from Israeli soldiers or settlers since October 7, according to the Palestinian Authority, and thousands more have been arrested. The war between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip was accompanied by an intensification of violence in the West Bank.
