The Iron Dome is an anti-aircraft complex in Israel. It can detect enemy missiles from a distance and stop them before they fall.

The dome's response is automated: faced with the threat, it fires another Tamir interceptor missile to detonate the intruder in the air. The first battery was installed on March 27, 2011 near the city of Beersheba. In 2021, Israel had 10 mobile batteries to completely cover the territory. The Dome was developed by the company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems with the financial support of the United States. According to a statement from the Congressional Research Service (CRS), until March 2023 the North American country had supplied US$3 billion to Israel for the interceptors, batteries, production cost and general maintenance of the dome. The Iron Dome was put to the test following the terrorist attack by Hamas militants in southern Israel in October last year. It is considered one of the most advanced defense systems in the world. It works under any weather conditions and can detect missiles at a range of 4 to 70 kilometers.
