Chandigarh, the capital of Punjab, was imagined by Le Corbusier as a modern and utopian city. The Franco-Swiss architect built a whole set of concrete administrative buildings: the Capitol Complex (Capitol Complexe), now a UNESCO world heritage site.

The Open Hand, a 26-meter building high, is a symbol of a city welcoming to everyone. The Capitol Complex is located on an esplanade and connected by pedestrian paths, punctuated by other posthumous creations of the architect.
