WhatsApp plans to optionally deactivate link previews. The new feature, which is currently in development and not yet live, promises to be a significant change in the way links are handled within the app.
Users are offered more privacy by preventing data from being sent to the target page of a link just by displaying a preview. On the other hand, users who value a more minimalist appearance of their chats can benefit from a clearer and clearer display. The function is currently still in the development phase and no official rollout date has been announced yet.
