In 1928, the Yinxu Ruins, spread over more than 30 square kilometers in Anyang, became the longest-study site in China. Over the past century it has produced fruitful discoveries including ritual bronzes, jade objects and oracular bones dating back 3,300 years.

In 2017, the inscriptions on the oracular Bones joined the UNESCO Memory of the World International Register. On February 26, the newly built YinxU Museum at the site was opened to visitors. It is the first comprehensive archaeological museum focused on conveying a panoramic vision of the Shang civilization.
