Light rain and cooler temperatures brought much-needed relief over the weekend to Alberta. Nearly 30,000 residents have been forced to evacuate.

Some 964,000 hectares have burned since the fires began more than a week ago. Alberta declared a state of emergency Saturday, as more than 110 wildfires burned across the province."It's been an unusual year," says Christie Tucker, an information officer for Alberta Wildfire. "People have called this season certainly unprecedented in recent memory because we have so many fires"
