The mayors of the large cities protested today against the promotion of the "Arnona fund" outline in the Arrangements Law. The fund would transfer money from them to weaker municipalities, mainly Haredi and Arab.

The funds in the fund will be invested in the construction of new housing units throughout the country, 2,000 per unit. Instead of continuing with the existing model that encourages municipalities to build only commercial areas that yield high municipal taxes, the money will be investments in new construction that will lead to increased supply.
