If you are patient, cuttings are the most effective method of propagation to obtain many wisteria plants. The most favorable period for a resumption remains at the end of summer between August and September.

To take a Wisteria cutting, equip yourself with clean and disinfected pruning shears. After a few weeks, you should see the first signs of growth; this means that the first roots have developed. Then, when rooting seems to be well established, remove the bell or mini-greenhouse. The following spring, repot your cuttINGS in your individual pots in light shade. Transplant them into the ground in the fall, or in the winter if you want to repot them in the spring. For more information on how to grow wisterias in the UK, visit www.wisteria.org.uk.
