Ivan Cantu, 50, was sentenced to death in Texas in 2001 for the murders of his cousin and his fiancée, James Mosqueda and Amy Kitchen. Cantu's execution is scheduled for February 28 at the Huntsville Unit.

The defense claims that the fact that a key witness recanted what he said at trial and other factors prove the innocence of their client, who continues with his scheduled execution. The Texas Court of Appeals dismissed his request for an evidentiary hearing without providing an explanation.
