Despite good harvests in sight, cereal prices remain high. Conflict between first and fifth largest exporters of wheat, and two heavyweights of maize and sunflower oil, has caused cereal prices to panic.

Soft wheat prices will soar by 80% in 2022 and those of corn by 40%. The situation remains that of a deep crisis, like that of the 1970s when the markets are the simple sounding board of a change of model, agricultural and energy, says Philippe Chalmin, who co-directs the writing of the CyclOpe report.
