Eight aces from the 64 boxes are vying for the right to challenge Chinese world champion Ding Liren. The Russian “Nepo”, unfortunate finalist of the two previous matches, and a 17-year-old Indian prodigy are in the lead.

After a real obstacle course in qualifying, there are only eight left, among the best grandmasters, to compete in the famous Candidates tournament in Toronto. Le Figaro has decided to comment on it on Figaro Live on April 16 from 9 a.m. ET. The winner of the tournament will challenge the current world champion, the Chinese Ding Lirens, for the title of grandmaster in 2024. The tournament is currently being played in Toronto, Canada, and runs until April 21. The winners will be announced on April 22. The draw will take place at the end of the Toronto Candidates Tournament on April 21, with the winner going on to the 2024 Candidates Championship in New York.
