Zeiss Meditec is expanding its offering through an acquisition. The takeover of the Dutch Ophthalmic Research Center was announced in December for the first half of 2024.

The aim is to become a global leader in ophthalmology, including in the surgical segment. The Jena-based MDax group currently employs around 4,800 people, including more than 2,200 in Germany. Zeiss Medititec specializes in lasers, surgical microscopes, devices and artificial lenses for the treatment of eye diseases.
