Guy Sassoon is the first Israeli Paralympic tennis player ever to qualify for the final of the Australian Open. The 43-year-old lost in the final (6:3, 6:3) to the second ranked in the world, the Dutchman Sam Schroeder.

Sassoon was injured in 2015, during a ski vacation in France, where he had a serious accident on a snowboard, which caused him to fall off a cliff. As a result, his spinal cord was severed - an injury that led to surgeries and a long hospitalization.
