Matthieu Pavon, 31, climbed to tied 12th place for his first participation in the prestigious Augusta Masters. The Bordeaux player took 12th places in the competition, won by the American Scottie Scheffler.

Pavon gained three places and reached his best world ranking (22nd) of all time. No French golfer had reached this level until 19 years ago, when Thomas Levet did the same. The 31-year-old hopes to return to Augusta for the 2025 edition of the tournament. He won the Farmers Insurance Open in January, the first for a Frenchman on the PGA Tour. The Frenchman is currently ranked 22nd in the world, the same as Victor Dubuisson, 15th at the peak of his career. The Frenchman has won two European Tour events this year, the Spanish Open and the Farmers insurance Open in California. He also won the European PGA Championship in January. The tournament is one of the most prestigious on the European Tour, with a prize purse of more than $1 million.
