Timo Boll has been nominated for the German Olympic team for the 2016 Summer Games in Paris. The German Table Tennis Association (DTTB) decided on this on Tuesday.

The 43-year-old will be the third player in the team tournament. Boll wants to lead Germany to its fifth Olympic medal in a row. Germany won the bronze medal in team competition at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games. The standard bearer of the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro would also make German sports history with his participation in the Summer Games. For Boll, it is not just a big dream come true. He also wants to take part in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, as well as the 2028 and 2028 Games in Beijing. He wants to win his seventh gold medal with the German team in the individual competition, which he won in 2008 and 2012. In the spring he even won the international tournament of the WTT series in Doha for the first time in three years. Boll also recently made people sit up and take notice in the intra-team competition with Dang Qiu, Ovtcharov and Patrick Franziska.
