12 people have died as a result of a stampede at the Cuscatlan stadium in San Salvador. The incidents began when a group of fans who wanted to enter the sports venue knocked down a security fence at one of the gates.
Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele said on his Twitter account that "an exhaustive investigation will be carried out" The Salvadoran Football Federation (Fesfut) lamented the deaths in a statement and added that "it will immediately request a report of what happened"
