Gints Freimanis has died of complications from skin cancer. The 38-year-old played 13 times for the Latvian national team.

The midfielder played most of his career in Latvia, where he began his career with FK Ventspils in 2005. Until his death, he was employed as sporting director at second division club Leevon Saldus. He made his debut for Latvia in 2014 and then made a total of 13 appearances for his national team, scoring one goal.
