La Rochelle beat Leinster 32-23 in the quarter-final of the European Champions Cup. Stade Rochelais reached the final of the competition for the first time in its history.

The Maritimes beat the Irish 24-21 in the final at the Caravel in Paris in 2022. La Rochelle becomes the fourth French club to win the competition, after Toulouse (1996, 2003, 2005, 2010), Brive (1997) and Toulon (2013, 2014, 2013) The final will take place at Twickenham on May 26, 2023. The match will be played in front of a crowd of 26,000 at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin. The French and Irish teams will play each other for the fifth time in four seasons. The last time the French team won the final was in 1996 (Toulouse). The last French team to win it was Brive in 1997 (Brive). The first French side to do so was Toulousain in 1996.
