Slovenian Tadej Pogacar wins Strade Bianche for his first race of the year. The 25-year-old escaped more than 80 kilometers from the finish to win the Italian semi-classic.

The runner-up, the Latvian Tom Skujins (Lidl-Trek), finished almost three minutes late. Julian Alaphilippe fell earlier in the afternoon and was forced to retire, a week after a previous fall. He will cut before lining up for Milan-San Remo in two weeks (March 16)
