Death of Kiptum: who was Gervais Hakizimana, who became the flagship marathon coach, also died in the accident. The former Rwandan long-distance runner, shared between France, Rwanda and Kenya since 2008, had become a figure in the marathon thanks to his coaching.
For the Rwandan too, this incredible achievement was the pinnacle of his coaching career. A career which suddenly ended this Sunday evening, at the same time as that of the marathon runner, when a car accident cost them their lives.
