A fan died in a traffic accident while traveling to the away game in Mönchengladbach. Some fans called for the game to be canceled after the deaths. Xavi Simons and Lois Openda scored the goals in the 2-0 win for Leipzig over Gladbach. The stadium program was scaled down and support from Leipzen had already been discontinued.
