Lionel Messi is one of six nominated for the Laureus Trophy Sportsman of the Year title. The trophy will be awarded this year on April 22.

Novak Djokovic, Erling Haaland, Max Verstappen, Noah Lyles and Faith Kipyegon are also in the running for the title. Last year, it was Jamaican Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce who won the title of sportswoman of the year. She is absent this year.
