Former Ajax Amsterdam player Quincy Promes was arrested in Dubai. The 32-year-old was sentenced to six years in prison last month for cocaine trafficking.
Promes has been under house arrest in Dubai since the beginning of March. He is expected to be extradited to the Netherlands soon, according to Dutch prosecutors. The player was also sentenced to 18 months in prison in connection with another case, for having stolen a cousin's necklace in 2020. The striker, who plays for Spartak Moscow, was in Dubai for a training camp with his club.
