South African international Luke Fleurs was shot dead at a gas station this Wednesday evening in Johannesburg. The 24-year-old joined South Africa's most popular club in October from SuperSport United.

Fleurs played in the Tokyo Olympics with South Africa where he faced the French team in the first round (3-4). He was also called up to the A team for the World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia. No arrests have yet been made in connection with the shooting. The president of the South African Football Federation, Danny Jordaan, also reacted.
