Simona Halep faces a five-year suspension from the tennis tour. The Romanian was suspended in October 2022 after a banned substance was found in her body.

Halep reached the top of the world rankings in 2017, beating Serena Williams in the Wimbledon final. The 25-year-old ended her tennis season last September, before the allegations became public. She returned to the tour, losing to Ukraine's Dries Snigor in the first round of the last US Open in New York.
