Belgian rider Remco Evenepoel retires after positive test for Covid-19. The 23-year-old had just won the 9th stage of the Giro d'Italia in Cesena.

He is the fifth rider to leave this 106th edition of the race after a positive test. He was the leader in the general classification, 45 seconds ahead of Geraint Thomas and 47 seconds behind Primoz Roglic, ahead of Monday's rest day. He had already retired during his previous participation in the GIRO in 2021.
