As the second quarter opened in the critical match between Maccabi and Hapoel Tel Aviv, the red fans lit flares in the upper two stands. Some of the flares got stuck on the separator net separating the crowds, and the yellow fans were forced to evacuate the stand.
Security forces extinguished the flares and the net around the stand, all with the help of several fire extinguishers. Even before the game, hundreds of Hapoal Tel Aviv fans were detained at the entrance in special security tents.
